5 Romantic Old-School Vegas Restaurants
In a city that loves to discard the old and praise the new, it’s encouraging to see that some Las Vegas eateries have survived and thrived throughout the decades. Each of the restaurants on this list has seen culinary and design fads come and go, but they remain steadfast in their embrace of the classics. Here, the titles of ‘waiter’ and ‘bartender’ are not stop gaps but careers. Ramp up the romance of your Valentine’s Day evening with the charm of old-school Vegas at any of these locations. Hugo’s Cellar Descend the stairs inside the Four Queens Hotel and Casino to be transported to another time and place. The host hands each woman who enters…

New in Town: D E Thai Kitchen
The Main Street area between Charleston Blvd and Imperial Ave has seen many changes. A revitalization (read: gentrification) is fully underway and has visibly transformed that part of Downtown. I have many thoughts and feelings about this, but that’s all for a different post. This post is all about one of the positive additions. D E Thai Kitchen has taken up residence in the former home of Rock’N’oodles (RIP). Intimate/Spacious The restaurant remains intimate, as it was before, with four tables and the ability to seat a maximum of 14 people. But the counter area has shifted giving the place a more open feel. On the walls, a cool grey…

Game Day Eats: Where to Dine Before a Vegas Golden Knights Game
Vegas Golden Knights games at T-Mobile Arena are incredibly entertaining and fun to attend. With a little planning, the whole evening can be a rousing success from start to finish. Figuring out where to park and what time to arrive are both important. Pre-game dining, however, plays an even bigger role in setting up an epic outing. Bruxie While massive menus can be great, it’s always a good sign when a restaurant chooses to specialize and focus on a smaller selection. This is the case for Bruxie, a California export known for their fried chicken and waffle sandwiches. An intriguing take on a comfort food classic, Bruxie’s chicken and waffle…

What to See, Eat, and Buy: Guide to Container Park
Nestled in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas is an intimate, unique shopping experience. Container Park, named for the shipping containers that make up some of the structure, is an outdoor mall unlike all others in town. There are no hidden undergarments belonging to a woman named Victoria, no two-lettered Swedish fast fashion, and no blazing subject where Goths can buy a Jack Skellington hoodie. Instead, shoppers can delve into a world of small, local businesses offering wares from fun to funky and everything in between. What to See: The centerpiece of Container Park is the three-story Tree House and Play Zone. This interactive playground was made to entertain both…

Brunch at Griddlecakes: Your Best Beginning
Its Labor Day weekend, as I write this, and what better time to let you know about my favorite Las Vegas brunch spot than on a holiday weekend. Brunch business has been growing steadily for what seems like a lifetime. This means entries into the market happen on a regular basis. New restaurants that push culinary boundaries and blur the lines of brunch are as popular in Vegas as artisanal locally sourced organic avocado toast is in California. But this post is not about any of those places. This post is about Griddlecakes, part diner, part modern eatery, all delicious. Griddlecakes has two locations on opposing sides of the valley.…

Best Budget-Friendly Vegetarian Vegas Restaurants
Most restaurants have the obligatory one or two vegetarian dishes. If I never eat or see another bland grilled veggie sandwich or try to make a meal out of sides again I'll be a happy woman indeed. Being a vegetarian shouldn’t be a boring affair. Or a costly one. There are a variety of delightful dining options for vegetarians that will put a smile on your face instead of a strain on your wallet. I culled this list from locally owned restaurants (no outside franchises) where you can leave satisfied on $12 and under. 1. Archi's I know I'm going to catch flak for this, but I don't care. Archi's…
