5 Romantic Old-School Vegas Restaurants
In a city that loves to discard the old and praise the new, it’s encouraging to see that some Las Vegas eateries have survived and thrived throughout the decades. Each of the restaurants on this list has seen culinary and design fads come and go, but they remain steadfast in their embrace of the classics. Here, the titles of ‘waiter’ and ‘bartender’ are not stop gaps but careers. Ramp up the romance of your Valentine’s Day evening with the charm of old-school Vegas at any of these locations. Best of Vegas: Top 5 Edible Souvenirs
While dispensaries are cropping up all over the Las Vegas valley, the types of edibles they sell should not be transported across state lines. Instead, bring home one of these five tasty treats. You can prolong your Vegas experience or share with those who were not lucky enough to visit along with you. Jojo’s Jerky, Jerky Named for the establishment’s first taste-tester, a friend’s young son, Jojo’s Jerky has been plying Las Vegans with preservative-free jerky for fourteen years. Must-Visit Vegas: A Day at City National Arena
In Las Vegas, it can be hard to choose which club to dance at, restaurant to eat at, store to shop at, or show to watch. There’s only one place that combines all these elements into one experience, and that place is City National Arena. The Vegas Golden Knights practice facility is located away from The Strip in the Summerlin suburb. But don’t let the distance from the city’s center deter you from enjoying everything this arena has to offer. Practice Makes Perfect The first and best reason to visit City National Arena is to watch the superb Vegas Golden Knights in action. Tickets for games at T-Mobile Arena are a hot…

What to See, Eat, and Buy: Guide to Container Park
Nestled in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas is an intimate, unique shopping experience. Container Park, named for the shipping containers that make up some of the structure, is an outdoor mall unlike all others in town. There are no hidden undergarments belonging to a woman named Victoria, no two-lettered Swedish fast fashion, and no blazing subject where Goths can buy a Jack Skellington hoodie. Instead, shoppers can delve into a world of small, local businesses offering wares from fun to funky and everything in between. What to See: The centerpiece of Container Park is the three-story Tree House and Play Zone. This interactive playground was made to entertain both…

New in Town: the Goodwich
When the Goodwich opened downtown—away from Fremont—food options were slim. The idea of having an upscale sandwich shop in that part of town wasn’t exciting, it was downright revolutionary. During slow days at the store, Rich would journey to that temple of bread and spreads, returning with mouthwatering spoils. Since we closed down our store over a year ago, I’m sad to report we have not ventured back to the Goodwich. So you can understand the whiplash-level of elation we experienced when we drove past the new location in the SouthWest, so conveniently close to Summerlin. We arrived at 7:30 on Friday, beating the dinner rush. A friendly server greeted…

Where to Buy Books in Vegas
In my first blog post, I discussed my hatred of Amazon and love of libraries. I also tapped The Writer’s Block as #TheVegasILove. And as much as both libraries and The Writer’s Block are wonderful they’re not the only game in town. I’m going to assume you enjoy supporting local businesses rather than large corporations (because you’re a good person, right?). So to aid you in that support, here are profiles on three amazing locally owned bookstores. Dragon Castle Books (Used) This used bookstore is owned and operated by a mother/son team: Carla and Danny. As soon as I walked in, Carla greeted me from behind a counter surrounded by…

Find the Best of Vegas with #TheVegasILove
Las Vegas is like an amazing rhubarb pie: the top crust is flaky and buttery, the filling is a combination of sweet, tart, and surprising. Most people who visit Las Vegas (and even some who live here), taste only the crust and, while the crust is delicious, it’s only one part of a much larger, much more satisfying whole. #TheVegasILove is about tasting the whole pie, not just the surface. #TheVegasILove is for the adventurous tourist looking for authenticity. It’s for the local looking for a deeper connection to a city that can, at times, feel isolating. But if I’m being honest, #TheVegasILove for me is a catalog of all…
